Album Review: Hellogoodbye's 'Everything Is Debatable'

Yay new music!! Love it!!

So I purchased this album on iTunes this morning, because after all it's New Cd Tuesday ;).

Started playing it as I did some errands today and listened away.

Overall feeling is that is has a very Hellogoodbye feel. Forrest (the lead singer) has a very unique voice which makes these songs comfortable even though they are new songs.

The first track 'And Everything Becomes a Blur' starts with a very techno/80's vibe sound. But then it moves fluidly to the strings and vocals of Hellogoodbye.

Just a random note: I really like the artwork on this one. Very dynamic cover and looks pretty.

The title track '(Everything Is) Debatable' starts very throwback as well. It's kind of a cool theme actually. Just a very flow-y song.

As I tried something new of just flipping through the next 10 songs and listening to which song 'grabbed' me I stopped at the song titled 'Die Young, Die Dumb; Not Soon'.

It had an upbeat vibe that I really liked. Has the reverb sound that Hellogoodbye is famous for. I also think the overall message of the title is cool. Life lesson ;).

OH! If you have been reading this review with a slight 'I should know them but from where' thought..they had a HUGE hit in Here (In My Arms) a few years back ;)

I do like this album. It's very chill and perfect for just hanging out. Check it out! :)

Honey, I'm Home!!

One of the first things I saw when I sat down to the computer this morning :)

Good morning!!

Well it's official! I'm back home in Slave Lake for the winter!

Highlights? We already have snow! I got to cruise with my bestie last night! And...my brother has the most up to date iPhone in the house now...and we NEVER thought he'd get a phone!!

So here I sit enjoying my morning coffee while I hear my Mom sew away on the hem of my Dad's pants and I'm reminded of why I love it here.

This is definitely home. This place is cozy and safe and familiar. It's encouraging, supportive and warm. I love knowing that it's always here for me and I can count on it. I can count on hearing my Dad yell from the upstairs when I'm downstairs because the Oilers scored. I can count on hearing my brother get super excited for the newest cooking show we can watch together. And I can count on my Mom wanting to be super organized about our upcoming trip.

I love my family. I love this house. I have sooooo many memories here.

It's weird though. As much as I love this house and the people in it, the adventure bug inside of me doesn't want to hibernate. I still want to roam around and be confident. Do my own thing and try new things! I know by no means am I stuck here and I love knowing that.

I'm just very interested to see what happens next!

I love this song! Shania is key when  you come home ;)

Top 5! - Rihanna Songs :)

Good morning!!

So recently MAC was selling a new Rihanna-based collection at their stores. As I am currently in a no-buy (which means pretty much what it says and I am not planning on buying any makeup for a while), I decided to go to the music and pick a few of Rihanna's best :)

So these are my Top 5 Rihanna songs (based on my opinion, yours may be different ;))

1. Hard - Definitely a 'power' song. I love the harsh beat of this song. Very military and strong. Love her vocal on this song as well. I will admit I feel pretty great when I'm driving and this song comes on.

2. Pon De Replay - I think this was my first introduction to Rihanna. Back when she was a fresh faced, bright eyed young star. I was talking to a friend about this yesterday and she said she still dances to this song. So do I! Couldn't make a Rihanna list without this song!!

3. Unfaithful - I love that Rihanna covers a lot of different topics in her songs. This song is all about her betrayal and her boyfriends awareness of it. Definitely love her vocal on it and the emotion that you can hear.

4. Where Have You Been - The FIRST time I listened to this song, I fell in love with it. The retro throwback to the lyrics, the energetic beat and the overall fun feel is awesome. This song has great bass and is just a great getting ready song.

5. Rude Boy - Last but definitely not least, this is one psychedelic music video. Love this song. Just so fun and catchy. Some may not like it because of the repetitiveness of the chorus but I like it. Fun song definitely.

What are your favorite Rihanna songs?

Change Is In The Air :)

Just as the leaves are changing colour, the days are getting chillier and the PSL's are getting more and more frequent, Key of Marie is also going through some change.

If you haven't already noticed the semi overhaul of the structure or design of the blog, I have been doing some remodeling, with some more to come I dare say!

I just received my awesome pictures from Chelsea yesterday and am going to start the process of updating the look of the blog more to my style.

Yep, sums it up real nice ;)

I super hope this sticks around.

I want something cute, fun, and something that says Marie!

I hope you will follow me on this awesome journey and any feedback would be super appreciated!

Thank you so much for reading the blogs!

Hey you!

The person reading this!

Thank you! :)

Love y'all.

Feature Friend: Heidi Hurst!! :)

It's that time again!! Where I shout from the imaginary rooftop of life and proclaim one of my friends as awesome! :)

Look at this chill girl! ;)
Ladies and Gentlemen, may I introduce:

 Ms. Heidi Hurst!!

Now Heidi is one of my newest friends, but in the roughly 6 months that we've known each other we've done a lot together!

This girl is amazing!! She has traveled everywhere!! She's even going to Antarctica in December!! She's amazing and sooo inspiring for me!

She has such knowledge in her head that you just have to absorb when she's around! You can't let it slip away!

I love that Heidi and I are alike in some ways because that means we have a lot of fun together! We are both up for road trips, scandalous times and a good ol' trip to the Korean BBQ in Calgary, which everyone should go to! It's amazing! You cook your meat right at your table!! Well Heidi cooks it when we go ;).

I love having this lady in my life as a backbone and a source for knowledge and direction, whether it be planning a New York holiday for me or for writing a snotty email to prove a point, she's always got my back!

I am sure gonna miss this girl when she's done at the end of this week :(. The warehouse is never the same without her giggle and her obscure references and just her overall tone of collab with me against the male gender! ;). I swear we scared a new forest officer today! Woot girl power!

For all of these reasons, and more, Heidi should start to become 'popular!', which is the song from Wicked that reminds me of Heidi whenever I hear it!

Love this girl!

Love you Heidi!

Check out her travel planning Facebook Page!! She really is a travel designer! She will give you the trip that YOU want! Not some run of the mill one but something that you can alter, configure and choose all for yourself!! Love her!

Hit of the Minute! - Reba McEntire

Was scrolling through Facebook.

Saw a friend.

Thought of this song because it reminded me of her when I first heard it.

Here it is :).

Hint of who it reminded me of? ;)

Just A Couple Words

Thank you!! :)

That is the song that is stuck in my head right now. How apt!

On this day of giving thanks, I think it is appropriate to realize just how much we have to be thankful for!

I am thankful for my family who shower me with love, motivation 'give these last two weeks 110%', encouragement and care.

I am thankful for my friends who text me everyday lovely things, who are there to listen to me, who I can joke with and laugh with.

I am thankful for my life and the opportunities that I have.

I am thankful for this blog because of the outlet that it gives me for my soul. And my YouTube channel for allowing me to connect with people from around the world!

I am overall thankful and blessed and happy.

To try and write all of the things that I'm thankful for in one blog post would be impossible so I try and tell people everyday what I'm thankful for! I think it's much more real that way. Love it!

Here are some thankful songs:

Thank you

Muffin Topless Fall Challenge!!

Hi Guys!!

So I follow this awesome lady named Savannah (@muffintopless) on Instagram and she put out this Fall Challenge for October on her website: www.muffin-topless.com

It looks fun and doable!

Here's the challenge:

So the first challenge is to write down your goals. Now I'm not a huge writer (typer yes, but writing no) so I did what I do best, took to Pinterest and created a new board! It's a visual representation of my goals so far, I'll be adding on all the time and I've written personal captions to explain why the pictures are there.

I've noticed that it is very therapeutic and fun to do! How can you work towards your goals if you don't even know what they are???

I'm super excited for this challenge because I know it means working on myself in an organized way. And it's small little steps that are achievable and it'll make me feel proud when I can cross them off!

In case you wanted to see my new board, here it is:

I'd love to see yours if you make one, or know some of your goals!
